Arusha National Park is one of our top birding sites in northern Tanzania, with more than 450 species recorded.
Under the comfort of birding guides, you will explore this park looking for the area’s specialties, such as white-starred Robin, Broad-ringed or montane white-eye, and the restricted-range endemic Taveta Golden Weaver, Boubou, Narina Trogon, Bar-tailed Trogon, and Moustached Warbler — just to mention a few.
This tour can be combined with a walking safari and waterfalls only if interested, and extra charges apply.
After breakfast, you will kick off from Arusha city onto Lark plains —the northern side of Mount Meru, trying to catch up with our feathered friends in the dry countryside. Among other species, our major target species are Beesley’s lark, Red-capped lark, short-tailed lark, Rufous-naped lark Rufous-naped Lark, Fischer’s Sparrow-lark, Taita Fiscal, Capped Wheatear, and other migrant birds. Later on, you’ll drive to Tarangire National Park for a hot dinner and an overnight stay at Tarangire Sopa Lodge.
This park has so much to offer. This is one of our best birding sites in northern Tanzania. You will have a full day of birding and a big game experience in this park, famous for its large number of elephants. Birds on target include some endemic species such as Ashy Starlings, Yellow-collared lovebirds, Rufous-tailed weavers, and many more. There are also chances to see big cats such as lions, cheetahs, leopards, and a huge number of ungulates.
After breakfast, you will do birding en route before you exit Tarangire National Park onto Lake Manyara National Park. You’ll enjoy a full-day birding in this famous park, looking for different species of birds. Among many other species, this is home to tree-climbing lions, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, and many more. Later on, the driver will take you to Karatu village for dinner and an overnight stay at Farm of Dreams Lodge.
After breakfast, you will take a short drive to Ngorongoro’s main entry gate before you descend about 600m deep for a full day crater floor tour for a full day of birding and also looking for the Big Five. Later on, you’ll drive back to your lodge for leisurely evening hours.
After breakfast, you will take a short drive to the Endoro entry point, ready to explore this beautiful highland zone. This leisure walk and birding tour is escorted by an armed ranger under the comfort of your birding guide. This trekking tour takes around 3 hours and you have a great chance to see some birds of the highland zone, such as the Golden-winged Sunbird, Hartlaub’s Turaco, and many more.
Later on, you will drive back to your lodge for lunch before we drive back to Arusha. You will be dropped off at the hotel of your choice.
